College Football has left the Fan behind.
Consensus is a platform dedicated to measuring, understanding, and visualizing fan opinion. We combine thousands of individual perspectives to create meaningful insights into what fans think, predict, and believe. Instead of relying on a small panel of voters or a handful of analysts, Consensus gives every fan the opportunity to contribute to a broader picture of public opinion.
Every sports fan has an opinion. For decades, those conversations have happened in living rooms, stadiums, tailgates, group chats, message boards, and social media. But until now, there hasn't been a way to measure what fans collectively believe—or how those beliefs change over time.
That's why we built Consensus.
Whether you're submitting your Top 25 rankings, predicting this weekend's games, participating in polls, or comparing your picks to the community, you're helping create one of the largest and most fan-centered sentiment sites in sports.
Rankings are only the beginning.
Consensus is designed to answer questions that traditional polls can't:
Our goal is to transform individual opinions into meaningful, transparent, and data-driven insights.
Consensus isn't about replacing debate. It's about making it better.
We believe every fan should have a voice, regardless of where they went to school, how many followers they have, or whether they work in sports media. Every submission contributes to a richer understanding of what the college football community believes.
At the same time, we're committed to making participation rewarding. Through rankings, predictions, leaderboards, and future fan intelligence metrics, users can track their performance, improve over time, and compare themselves with friends and fellow fans.
We believe trust comes from openness.
That's why our methodologies are designed to be transparent, consistent, and continuously improved. Rather than relying on subjective editorial decisions, we use published methodologies to calculate rankings and insights from community participation.
As our platform evolves, so will our methods—but our commitment to transparency will remain the same.
Consensus begins with college football because no sport generates stronger opinions or more passionate fan communities.
But our vision is much larger.
The same technology that measures college football opinion can help understand conversations across professional sports, entertainment, business, politics, and any topic where public opinion evolves over time.
Our long-term mission is to become the leading platform for measuring collective opinion—turning millions of individual perspectives into meaningful, actionable intelligence.
Whether you're a lifelong college football fan, a casual viewer, or simply someone who loves spirited debate, there's a place for you on Consensus.
Cast your rankings. Make your predictions. See how your opinions compare. Help define the consensus.
Because the best conversations aren't decided by one expert—they're built from everyone.
Built by Fans. Designed to Be Fair. Every week, thousands of college football fans submit their rankings on Consensus. Instead of relying on a small panel of media members or coaches, Consensus combines the opinions of fans from across the country into one national ranking. Our goal is simple: Give every fanbase in college football a voice. ## Here's How It Works ## 1. Fans Submit Their Rankings Every fan creates their own Top 25 (or deeper) ranking. The more fans who participate, the stronger the Consensus becomes. ## 2. Every Fanbase Forms One Opinion Rather than counting every individual vote equally across the country, Consensus first combines ballots from each fanbase. That means Alabama fans create Alabama's opinion. Wyoming fans create Wyoming's opinion. Tulane fans create Tulane's opinion. This prevents larger fanbases from overwhelming smaller ones while still allowing every school to be represented. ## 3. Consistency Matters A team ranked highly by nearly every member of a fanbase carries more weight than one ranked by only a few. Consensus rewards agreement within each fanbase without letting a handful of ballots dramatically change the results. ## 4. Bigger Samples Are More Reliable Instead of giving large fanbases overwhelming influence, Consensus makes only a small adjustment for larger sample sizes. Once a fanbase reaches 15 voters, it receives full reliability credit. ## 5. National Respect Wins This is what makes Consensus unique. A team doesn't rise simply because one fanbase ranks it #1. Teams climb the rankings because they earn respect from fans across many different schools. Broad agreement across college football matters more than overwhelming support from just one fanbase. ## What Does the Score Mean? Every team receives a Consensus Score. Higher scores mean: • More fanbases ranked the team. • Those fanbases ranked the team highly. • Fans were generally consistent in where they placed that team. The rankings are simply ordered from highest score to lowest, with a max of 138. ## What Does Agreement Mean? Consensus also reports an Agreement Score. This tells you how much fans agree on where a team belongs. • 🟢 High Agreement = Fans largely agree. • 🟡 Medium Agreement = Some debate. • 🔴 Low Agreement = One of the most controversial teams in the country. A top-five team with low agreement may be extremely polarizing. A No. 18 team with high agreement is one fans almost universally place in the same range. ## Why This Is Different Traditional polls ask: "What do 60 people think?"
Consensus asks: "What does college football think?"
Every fanbase has a voice.
Every opinion contributes.
And as more fans participate, the rankings become an even better reflection of the college football community.
